Created on Christmas day of 2022 this website will grow into the realization of a dream. More will be explained in time and especially on our Blog. Stop back often and watch this site grow as
SWEET VALLEY ARTISANS
has grown over the past 30 years
Even as a young child the urge to make things was in me. Born with three fingers and a thumb on my right hand and two partial fingers on a shorter arm on my left, I was given a lot of encouragement to forget any idea I had of building a profession based on what I could do with my hands but another part of me told me to ignore all the well meaning warnings--my head.
Even at the age of five or six I taught myself to sew while watching my mother, who was quite nimble with her hands.
I also had another gift; I was consumed by curiosity that was a great aid. Unanswered questions were my greatest challenge and that aspect of my spirit is still alive and well.
As this site grows this will be the area that will display our products. We presently create private commemorative work for clients who wish to honor family members and friends with ceramic objects, among others, that celebrate new arrivals, honors bestowed on friends and family members and lives lived.
In order to respect the privacy of my many clients I will be creating items that will illustrate our upcoming line and present them here.
Leslie Golding Mastroianni has been a friend, mentor and work partner for over 45 years.
Much of my inspiration over that time began with conversations and creative concepts including our name, "SWEET VALLEY ARTISANS".
She is also an accomplished author, poet and collage artist. Her novel "BUYING A YEAR", a story of a young woman's discovery of her artistic talents while uncovering her individuality, has earned praise from published authors including Dame Ruth Rendell.
An M.ed in counseling from West Chester University as well as her decades of counseling and teaching has made her the ideal associate for "Makers Mentor"
